2023

The 2023 Mural Festivals, under the theme “Love,” were conceived to celebrate life and to convey love by highlighting the distinct identity of each community, using art and creative expression as their primary means.

This artistic initiative consists of three-day mural workshops for children, to be held in three mountainous communities of Cyprus, led by visual artist Anthi Pafiou. The murals will be completed by the artist herself.

First stop: Anogyra – 29/4–1/5
Second stop: Prastio Avdimou – 23/6–25/6
Third and final stop for this year: Farmakas – 4/8–6/8

The objectives of the project are:

  1. To explore the role of the artist in society and the impact of artistic initiatives in contributing to the highlighting and addressing of social issues.
  2. To expand artistic creation into the mountainous regions of Cyprus, offering children the opportunity to paint the walls of their community. The workshops foster children’s understanding of collaboration, aesthetics, and the appropriation of public space.
  3. To promote and showcase the communities themselves.
