Folk and Contemporary Art Pafiou develops educational programmes based on its long-term artistic research and interdisciplinary artistic practice. Through experiential learning processes, artistic processes, artistic expression becomes a tool for creativity, exploration, communication and collective experience. The workshops are designed for different age groups and contexts, including adult participants and educational environments, connecting contemporary artistic practices with cultural heritage and community-based approaches.
Artistic Research in Educational Practice
FACAP’s educational programmes translate artistic research into participatory learning experiences. Through creative processes, participants are encouraged to explore ideas, develop personal expression and engage with artistic practice as a means of communication, discovery and collaboration.

Description
The workshop explores the relationship between emotions, creativity and artistic expression. Through experiential activities, participants are introduced to the exploration of feelings through body awareness, discussion, observation and creative processes.
Beginning with creative movement activities, participants engage with the theme of emotions through their own experiences and physical expression. The process continues through artistic exploration, where participants develop creative responses inspired by their feelings, ideas and observations. Through participation, collaboration and reflection, the workshop creates an inclusive environment where participants can express themselves, explore different perspectives and experience artistic practice as a means of communication and connection.

inspired by the Shadow Theatre
An experiential artistic workshop inspired by the traditional art of shadow theatre, exploring character creation through artistic research, imagination and creative expression. Participants investigate the development of characters through visual exploration, based on the study and transformation of traditional shadow theatre figures into anthropomorphic characters.

Description
The workshop is inspired by shadow theatre, a traditional art form that combines visual elements, character creation and performance. The process is based on a design research approach that studies traditional shadow theatre figures and explores their transformation into anthropomorphic characters through contemporary artistic interpretation.
Participants are introduced to the visual language of shadow theatre and explore the characteristics, forms and symbolic elements of traditional figures. Through drawing experimentation and the use of different materials and formats, they develop their own characters, investigating their appearance, movement and expressive qualities.
The workshop encourages participants to explore character creation through artistic practice, experimentation and observation, creating a connection between cultural heritage and contemporary artistic expression.

The workshop was selected as part of the Experiential Workshops Programe of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus (2022–2024).
