Description
The workshop is inspired by shadow theatre, a traditional art form that combines visual elements, character creation and performance. The character designs used in the workshop are based on visual research through which traditional shadow theatre figures were reimagined as anthropomorphic characters.
Participants are introduced to the visual language of shadow theatre and explore the characteristics, forms and symbolic elements of traditional figures. Through drawing, experimentation and the use of different materials and formats, they develop and colour their own characters, exploring their appearance and expressive qualities.
The workshop encourages participants to explore character creation through artistic practice, experimentation and observation, creating a connection between cultural heritage and contemporary artistic expression.
